Bayer Crop Science’s Need
Bayer Crop Science supports sustainable and resilient farming environments worldwide. Due to the scale of its facilities and production requirements, meeting growing demand has presented challenges. Optimizing order management and analytical data recording was identified as critical to improving efficiency across global production sites. The objective was to establish a more seamless approach to site operations through integrated production systems and shop floor equipment.
Improve inventory management for reduced costs
Track real-time production data for improved decision-making
Measure equipment efficiency for increased productivity
Manage equipment downtime to improve facility operations
Support proactive maintenance to reduce machine failures
About the Project
Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) is a key metric for manufacturing organizations, enabling visibility into equipment and process performance. For Bayer Crop Science, OEE provides real-time insight into manufacturing line productivity and supports comparisons across facilities.
Prior to the IndX solution rollout, Bayer Crop Science experienced limited visibility into manufacturing line performance and challenges identifying inefficiencies. The customer required a solution capable of delivering actionable insights from asset and operational data. Beginning in 2020, IndX implemented Manufacturing Execution Systems and OEE solutions across 13 production sites. Using Siemens Opcenter Execution Process and Siemens Insights Hub, with integrations to ERP systems, Siemens Opcenter Laboratory and shop floor equipment, Bayer teams are now able to monitor operations in real time, calculate equipment effectiveness and analyze downtime.
Since then, IndX has expanded these implementations to more than 40 sites globally. The program remains ongoing, with additional locations in scope, and is recognized as one of the largest Siemens Insights Hub rollouts worldwide. Bayer Crop Science can now record machine data, measure equipment efficiency, manage downtime and support proactive maintenance.
IndX was selected as Bayer Crop Science’s primary partner due to its deep expertise in shop floor manufacturing environments and Siemens technologies. IndX continues to deliver solution design, development, software installation, training and ongoing support, enabling Bayer teams to take full ownership of their MES and OEE solutions.
